Obituary

Danny Ray Brown, 74, passed away on November 4, 2026, following a long and courageous battle with lung cancer. Surrounded by the love of his family, Danny peacefully entered the arms of his Lord and Savior.

Born on June 2, 1952, in Houston, Texas, Danny was the son of Marvin Brown and Betty Brown Morris, both of whom preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Marvin Brown.

Danny was raised Baptist, and his faith remained an important part of his life. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps beginning in 1969. Following his military service, he worked in painting and drywall before pursuing a career in law enforcement. Throughout his career, Danny served in several capacities, ultimately retiring in 2007 as a criminal investigator with the Denton County Sheriff's Department. He also played an instrumental role in helping establish the Children's Advocacy Center in Lewisville, leaving a lasting legacy of service to the community and to the children and families it serves.

Danny enjoyed life and treasured the people who made it special. He loved fishing, traveling, and especially cruising with family and friends. He enjoyed socializing, spending time with friends at Elks Lodge #2446, where he was a member, and trying his luck at the casinos. He particularly valued the friendships he built throughout his years in law enforcement and maintained many close relationships with former colleagues and friends at the Denton County Sheriff's Department. Whether exploring new places, gathering with friends, or simply sharing stories and laughter, Danny knew how to enjoy the moments that made life meaningful.

Above all, Danny's greatest joy was his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, nephew, and friend who cherished the time he shared with those he loved. Danny is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Darla Brown; sons, Shawn Brown and Michael Brown and his wife, Melissa; and their mother, Brenda Matheus; his sister, Sharon Moores, and brother-in-law, Fred; his sister-in-law, Janette Brown; and his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Paula and Tim Chambers. He also leaves behind his nephew, Casey Chambers, and his wife, Pam; and his niece, Kristin Seals, and her husband, Garrett. His beloved grandchildren include Gage Brown and Chelsea Jenness; Makaela Brown and Hector Rodriguez; and Shane Brown, Ryan Brown, and Zane Brown. His great-grandchildren include Scarlett Jenness-Brown, Nayeli Rodriguez, Brenda Rodriguez, and Liam Rodriguez. He is also survived by his great-nieces, Collins Chambers and Bailey Malar; and his great-nephews, Garrett Malar, Colt Seals, and Nolan Seals. Numerous other nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, extended family members, and dear friends will continue to cherish his memory. He is also survived by his faithful companion, our toy poodle Bernie Brown.

As Danny faced the reality of leaving this life, one of his greatest concerns was having to say goodbye to the family and friends he loved so dearly. He often expressed how much he would miss everyone and how difficult it was to imagine being away from the people who meant the most to him. This was a reflection of the deep love he carried for his family and the life they shared. Even in his final days, his thoughts remained with those he loved. While his family and friends will miss him beyond words, they find comfort in knowing that his long battle is over and that he is now at peace in the arms of his Lord and Savior.

The love Danny shared, the friendships he built, the lives he touched, and the memories he created will live on through the many people who were fortunate enough to know him.

He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
