Johnson
Feb 26, 1939 — Oct 26, 2026
Krum, Texas
He leaves behind a legacy of strength and compassion for all who knew him.
Elzy Dee “Buba” Johnson, 87, passed away October 26, 2026 in Denton, Texas. He leaves behind a legacy of strength and compassion for all who knew him. He loved life and all the adventures that he had throughout his lifetime.
Born February 26, 1939 in Frisco, Texas to A.D. Johnson and Juanita Hart Johnson. Buba grew up in the Frisco/Little Elm area, graduated from Frisco High School in 1957, served in the US Army as a medic; he later attended University of Texas and University of North Texas.
He joined Texas Instruments in Dallas, and he later worked for General Instruments Manufacturing, Parson’s Sales and later joined Southern States Marketing as business partner where he spent 20 plus years as the sales representative in Oklahoma, Arkansas and parts of North Texas for several major electronic manufactures. Retiring in 1999 he followed his lifelong dream of farming and ranching. He loved antique tractors but his heart was always Farmall tractors. He took raising cattle a step above by raising registered limousin cattle, and he enjoyed spoiling them daily. He would sponsor FFA students by providing them with a heifer to show for a couple of years and offer his help more than they may had expected because he loved seeing young leaders grow and flourish in the industry.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years Linda Gail Swafford Johnson, his sister Patricia Whitworth and husband Kenneth of Frisco, his daughters Karen Smith and husband John of Bogue Chitto, MS, Kara Meyer of Krum, his sons Micheal Johnson of Caddo Mills, Keith Copp and wife Kassandra of Ponder, Kraig Copp and wife Kerri of Krum. Grandchildren Tessa Jara-Smith and husband Jacob of Garland, Micah Dee Johnson of Dallas, Kristyn of Dallas, Kaelin Dee of Waco, Keaton Meyer of Krum, Karol Meyer of Krum, Kayla Diemer and husband Daimon of Edmond, OK, Katlyn Copp of Krum, Kramer Copp and wife Cortney of Ponder, Kendra Kaylakie and husband Chris of Decatur, Kade Copp and wife Krystal of Ponder. Ten greatgrandchildren and many nieces and nephews, cousins.
He loved life and all the adventures that he had throughout his lifetime.
He is preceded in death by his Father, Mother, Brothers Jerry Johnson, Tommy Johnson and Keith Johnson.
