In Loving Memory of
Nelda Jerrilene Jocoy Ward
1941 ~ 2026
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Nelda Jerrilene Jocoy Ward, who left this world peacefully on May 5th, 2026, at the age of 84.
Born in Lamesa, Texas, Nelda was a vibrant, stubborn, headstrong, loving, and unforgettable woman. She always believed she was right (and usually was). She was known for her kindness, strength, and unwavering love for her family.
Nelda dedicated herself to being a loving homemaker. She prepared meals for everyone – even those who simply stopped by. She cared for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren while their parents worked, creating a home filled with warmth, laughter, and love.
Her home in Justin, Texas became a haven where family gatherings and cherished memories flourished. She embraced every day with joy and lived her life completely devoted to her husband and family.
She is survived by her loving husband, Don; her children, Penny Jocoy, Sharlene Dutsch and husband David, Tim Ward, Tommy Ward and wife Kim, and Gerald Ward and wife Kristi.
Her grandchildren include Khristale McKay, Joseph McKay, Nathan McKay, Dr. Heather Munro, Keefer Jocoy, Kathleen Dutsch, Jonathan Dutsch, Tianna Soto, Jacob Ward, Priscilla Ward, James Ward, Karlie Stevenson, & Trevor Ward.
Her great-grandchildren include Kaylee Kirby, Hunter McKay, Caleb Martinez, Zulay Gomez, Skye Gomez, Zachariah Klutts, Waylon Floyd, Braxton James, Kayden Ward, Madilynne Ward, Lilian Ward, Olin Stevenson, Hayes Stevenson, Reid Stevenson, Karsyn Ward, Kaydance Jocoy, Vivian Carriger, and Iris Munro.
She also leaves behind many beloved extended family members, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Odessa Harry; her brothers, Cecil Harry and Billy Harry; her sister, Reba Skinner; and her previous husband, Don Jocoy.
A memorial service to celebrate Nelda’s beautiful life will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, June 6, 2026 at Denton County Cowboy Church.
