Stanley Dobbins, longtime resident of Amarillo, TX and recent resident of Sanger, TX, passed away on May 16, 2026 at the age of 71.

Stanley was born on July 29, 1954 in San Angelo, TX to Frank and Margaret Dobbins. As a child, he lived all over Texas, in Washington, D.C., and even in Newfoundland, while his father was stationed at various Air Force bases. Stanley graduated from Amarillo High School in 1972, then married Kay Duncan in 1974. Kay and Stanley recently celebrated 50 years of marriage.

Stanley became a firefighter in 1981. He began his career at Amarillo Fire Department, then moved to Pantex Fire Department, where he served for 42 years. In his younger years, Stanley enjoyed drag racing cars. As his family grew, he gave up participating in racing, but he always loved going to the dirt track and the drag strip to watch races. He always worked hard to provide for his family, and enjoyed going on vacations, especially snow skiing in Red River.

Stanley was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Margaret Dobbins, brother Steve Dobbins, and son Matthew Dobbins. He is survived by his wife, Kay; daughter, Kayla Monschke and husband Jeff of Sanger, TX; granddaughters, Adrianna Dobbins, Aleah Dobbins, and Lily Monschke; grandson Derek Hall and wife Gabby of Lincoln, NE; and great-granddaughter Isabella Hall.

Visitation will be on Monday, May 25 from 5-7 p.m. at DeBerry Funeral Home in Denton, TX. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 26 at First Baptist Church in Sanger, TX. Graveside service will be immediately following at Sanger Cemetery.
